Join Us – Milwaukee Grays

The Milwaukee Grays Vintage Base Ball Club consists of a group of dedicated individuals who enjoy baseball, history, and the outdoors. We are NOT re-enactors! We play actual baseball but we prefer to play by the rules of 1860. We use wooden bats and lemon peel base balls. Our club has players of all ages and we love to compete!

The Milwaukee Grays spent just one year in the National League back in 1878 and we honor the 1878 club by wearing replica uniforms similar to their original uniforms. The 1878 club may have only made it one year but we are currently enjoying our fifteenth season.  The Gray’s 2023 season features matches against various clubs from Wisconsin and Illinois.  Our matches are scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday afternoons and we enjoy playing all around the Milwaukee area.  Some of our favorite venues include Hawthorn Glen, Estabrook Park, and Doctor’s Park.

We are always looking to expand our club and the game. Our game is competitive but is not as heated as your typical softball league. After all, base ball in 1860 required gentlemanly etiquette. Some of our players love baseball history, some love to play the game, and some are looking to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors. Which one are you? Come join us for a match and experience the fun of 1860’s base ball.

If you would like to learn more about our club, please fill out the form on our contact page.

The Milwaukee Grays are a proud member of the Vintage Base Ball Association.  More information about the rules, customs, terminologies and members of vintage base ball can be found through the VBBA webpage.
